Program Description:

100 Black Men of America (BMA) is a men’s civic organization and service club whose stated goal is to educate and empower African-American children and teens. The organization has over 120 chapters and more than 10,000 members in different cities in the United States and throughout the world.

In 1986, the 100 BMA, Inc. Alton / Madison County Chapter was incorporated under the laws of the state of Illinois and in 1988 became a tax exempt non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code.

The mission is to teach youth how to make better choices, provide guidance on setting and achieving goals, and demonstrate how to diffuse situations before they escalate to tragic consequences.

Student applicants must:

  • Be at least 14 years old and not more than 18 years old at the time of graduation
  • Be on track for high school graduation year
  • Have permission from either a parent or legal guardian to participate in the program
  • Submit a complete application, including photograph, release, and letters of recommendation
