Scholarship Information
PURPOSE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

The 100 Black Men’s Project 21st Century Excellence Scholarship was established to encourage students with marginal academic records to refine and develop their academic potential to their highest possible level of achievement.

TARGET GROUP

Disadvantaged students of single parent families with particular emphasis on the black male grades nine (9th) through twelve (12th).

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must have a “C” average or above.
  • Graduating senior students must have qualifying A.C.T./S.A.T. test scores.
  • Student must provide proof of grades.
  • Student must provide three character references: principal, teacher, counselor, clergy, policeman, or employer.
  • Student must agree to open review of grades by committee of this organization.
  • Must enroll as full time or half-time students with at least six credit hours.
  • Underclassmen are encouraged to apply but must enter the program under our mentoring aid program. Special consideration will be given to those students as they become graduating seniors.
  • Students can not have any current GANG or DRUG involvement.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

Maximum amount will not exceed $500.00 per school year for full-time students. Scholarship amounts are awarded on basis of needs and availability of funds. Scholarships are renewable each year providing applicants meet all criteria deemed necessary by the 100 Black Men of Alton, Inc.

College, University or Trade School of student’s choice.
